Anslow Snake Chain Review: 90 Days Later (A Long-Term Test for Men)

I’ve worn this trendy men's necklace for 90 days straight. Here’s my detailed account of how this affordable snake chain performed over time. I was doubtful from the start—I always am when a chain costs less than two takeout meals. Most inexpensive jewelry looks good for a week or so before turning your skin green.

I was curious to see if the Anslow 2021 Snake Chain would be an exception. Marketed as a short, slim piece at just 45cm, I bought it specifically to try out the short choker trend for everyday use.

Day 1: First Impressions

The delivery was prompt. Right out of the box, the chain had a nice appearance. It was shiny, and the flat snake chain design reflected light attractively. While it didn’t feel heavy or high-end, it also didn’t come across as completely cheap.

Before purchasing, I called the company to inquire about the materials. I spoke with Luci, a helpful sales associate, who described the material as 'alloy' but couldn’t confirm a specific metal grade like 316L stainless steel. That kind of uncertainty always raises concerns. If they don’t specify 316L, it’s safe to assume the metal quality isn’t top-tier.

The clasp felt noticeably cheap. It’s a standard lobster clasp, but the spring inside seemed weak, making me concerned it might break or come undone easily.

Initial Check List:

Verdict: Looks great at the moment, but I suspect the quality won’t hold up.

Week 1: Getting Used to It

The biggest adjustment was the length. At 45cm (roughly 17.7 inches), this is a short choker-style chain for a man. It sat right at the base of my neck, whereas I’m used to chains around 55cm or 60cm.

It felt odd for the first couple of days. I noticed it against my neck whenever I bent over. After that, though, I barely felt it. The flat snake design made it comfortable to wear, and unlike bulkier chains, it didn’t twist or pull at my neck hairs.
